After the political outbreaks in Syria, Syrian refugees are living in refugee camps throughout Jordan, dispersed in small villages throughout the nation. One of the host villages for refugees in Jordan, Al Azraq, works with a variety of organizations to "alleviate some of the children in this humanitarian disaster". The American Community School of Amman has decided to reach out to international schools like ours to ask for our help in donating money towards building a play area for refugee children in the village of Al Azraq. The playground they hope to build will include athletic facilities, areas for drama productions, arts and craft rooms, and many other facilities the children can benefit from. The SBG is hoping to plan a Spirit Week in a few weeks to raise money for this incredible cause. The PDF attached to this post provides all of the information on the village and the plans being made to help the refugees of the area. Contact the SBG if you have any other suggestions on how we can raise money as a school for a great cause.
